Engineering Compliance Manager

West Midlands - Salary circa £35,000

We are seeking an Engineering Compliance Manager for a chemical manufacturer based in the West Midlands.

This is a new position created due to increased regulatory compliance with the EA and HSE. This role will take on all Engineering compliance responsibilities focusing initially on mechanical but expanding to cover electrical and instruments. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be a chartered engineer with at least 10 years industrial experience in a process industry, ideally in chemical manufacture. You should be a degree qualified mechanical engineer although we will consider applications from chemical engineers with a strong mechanical bias. The Engineering Compliance Manager will have the responsibility of defining and setting up a dedicated multi-functional engineering compliance team.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

• Management of all engineering compliance matters
• Managing the completion and ongoing requirements of HSE intervention plans for all engineering operations through liaison with the SHE Manager.
• Responsibility for Risk Based Inspection reviews
• Responsibility for the Pressure Systems register
• Responsibility for the Lifting Equipment register
• Responsibility for inspections of reactors under PUWER
• Responsibility for inspecting bulk store tanks and gauge tanks under PUWER
• Responsibility for managing and administrating the electronic data base of pipework flanges and other components.
• Responsibility for managing all mechanical engineering records and inspections, including; reactors, tanks, protective devices, pipework, valves, hoses, staging, structures, mechanical interlocks, access equipment, ropes, harnesses and safety gear, buildings, chimney, radioactive ionisers, miscellaneous work equipment under PUWER, Water systems for control of legionella, LEV checks, fume cupboard performance, noise measurements, breathing air quality, fire hydrants, racking.
• Responsibility for managing all civil engineering records and inspections, including; sumps, bunds, drains and buildings through liaison with the SHE Manager.

Salary will be circa £35,000 per annum for a 36.25 hour week.
