Manufacturing Operations Manager

Loughborough - Salary TBC

An international manufacturer of electromechanical industrial products is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager for its site in Loughborough.

Key Responsibilities:

• To lead a team within the Operations area, ensuring resources are organised for all shifts in order to execute and deliver to the Operations plan.
• Proactively contribute to the development and execution of the business production plan.
• Ensure that all team members have clarity of their objectives and the standards required including associated timescales.
• Initiate, investigate and support all "cost saving" opportunities
• Take appropriate proactive corrective actions required to ensure compliance with the plan and delivery of customer needs.
• To communicate with relevant staff in Operations; Project Management and Engineering to gather, and verify the full demands and priorities on the Team.
• To communicate the demands and priorities to the Shift Team Leaders and charge hands and, with them, align resources to deliver on those demands.
• To negotiate and agree changes to priorities with Operational Senior Managers to meet resource constraints and the changing demands of the business.
• Initiate, promote and implement Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives, use Lean/Six Sigma Tools to resolve problems and improve performance on key measures.
• Minimise waste and maximise efficiency through the organisation.
• Assure delivery of the production plan through identification and development of capability of staff throughout the value stream and operations.
• Plan, direct, monitor, measure and coach team members, ensuring that they are capable of and motivated to achieving expected standards for individual and team performance and to their full potential.
• Monitor team performance, identify any "Skill or Performance Gap", reduce and eliminate these through team or individual training, development and coaching

Person Specification:

• Proven track record in a Management and leadership role within a manufacturing environment – engineering preferable
• A qualification appropriate in an Engineering Discipline is desirable OR significant history and success in roles in a manufacturing environment.
• HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (essential)
• Budget ownership and management
• A comprehensive knowledge of the company’s products, structures and manufacturing techniques is beneficial.
• Experience of Lean Manufacturing techniques and methodologies.
• A people coach, able to develop the capability of their team
