Technical Manager

Worcestershire - Salary £25,000-£35,000

We are seeking a Technical Manager to work for a FMCG healthcare manufacturer in Redditch.

Job Summary:

The position will have responsibility for developing new healthcare products, communicating and technically supporting the developments of major product improvements, from concept through commercialization as well as ongoing business support for UK customers. The position will be responsible for ensuring consumer acceptance, customer satisfaction, safety and efficacy of products and will work closely with the companys global manufacturing facilities to ensure that product design is compatible with process capabilities.

Main Duties :

a) Lead and manage defined projects

b) Create new products, formulations and optimising existing formulations, basesheets and packaging.

c) Liaise with internal departments, external suppliers and consultants.

d) Prepare and maintain Product Information Portfolios (PIP) for each product to comply with EU Cosmetic regulations.

e) Technically support customer-based specifications. This includes providing technical data for the completion of web based customer specifications, coupled with QA. This may include liaising with customers’ technologists.

f) Arrange challenge testing, efficiency testing, dermatological testing, ageing studies and other technical evaluations etc, within a time scale as necessary. This will involve interpretation and reporting of results.

g) Investigate and instigate new testing methods to substantiate product performance and/or efficiency of a new or existing products or formulations, to support the development brief. This will involve liaising with external laboratories and consultants.

h) Investigate and recommend testing methods and regimes where necessary to allow new products to be handed over to quality assurance.

i) Issue manufacturing and finished product specification where necessary.

j) Maintain an awareness of competitor products.

k) Provide technical information and support Sample Technicians when required. This includes product sample preparation.

l) Ensure laboratory safety policies and guidelines are followed and carry out all laboratory work in a safe manner.

Qualification and Experience Required:

1. A science degree from an accredited university.

2. Relevant experience in a NPD.

3. Computer proficient (e-mail, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel).

4. Working knowledge of COSHH and safe lab practices.

5. Must be self-motivated, mature in attitude, have good attention to detail and able to work independently.

6. The candidate must be proficient in PC programs: MS OFFICE, Outlook, MS-EXCEL, MS-WORD, and POWERPOINT.
