Technical Sales Engineer

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer for a technology company in Leicestershire.

The company is seeking to appoint a Technical Sales Engineer to increase sales of existing products, support the promotion of new product brands and promote new product developments. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, the Technical Sales Engineer will have previous experience of writing proposals and quotations and contacting customers (primarily over the phone, with some face to face meetings) for business development. The appointed Technical Sales Engineer will need to have a good general level of technical knowledge covering electronics and mechanical engineering subjects (degree preferred), and will work alongside the technical team to better understand customer requirements.

The company is involved in a variety of nationally and EU funded research programmes where you will be able to make a positive contribution in terms of future Company direction through dissemination to customers, and listening to future needs to ensure the research and development remains commercially focused. With a responsibility for both sales and marketing this role requires an individual capable of implementing sales and marketing strategies to both our existing customer database and for the generation of new sales opportunities. You should be able to demonstrate a range of sales skills including business development, account management, networking and excellent presentation skills. Most of all you should be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and determination to succeed throughout long sales cycles, managing complex technical sales opportunities, working with a multi-disciplinary team and within an ISO 9001quality assurance system.

Key Responsibilities:

- Write proposals and quotations
- Contact customers primarily by phone, email and be comfortable in face to face communication, to promote and sell the full company product range
- Liaise with engineers, researchers and partner companies to better understand customer needs
- Create and follow sales plans for future business development
- Work closely with the Technical Director to understand client needs

Skills & Abilities

- Proven track record in a technical sales or business development role
- HNC or degree preferred in either Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills, good written and verbal English
- Must be comfortable (initially) with support and administrative functions, as knowledge is developed
